What this is, and what it is not

It is a private slot on a marked track with helmets, a briefing and a guide riding with your group.

It is not open-dune quad riding. We do not sell that. Open-dune riding on a machine you have never used before, in soft sand, at dusk, is where the injuries in this market come from, and the honest answer is that it is not worth the twenty minutes.

Whether to add it

Add it if you have teenagers, or anyone in the group who came for the machines rather than the desert.

Skip it if your group is mostly adults. Twenty minutes on a track is twenty minutes not spent at the sunset ridge, and almost nobody looks back on a Dubai trip and remembers the quad bike.

That is an unusual thing for an operator to write about an add-on it sells. It is also true, and you will find out either way.

Safety

Helmet and goggles, a briefing you are expected to understand rather than nod through, and a guide riding with the group. Sixteen and over to ride. If anyone is unsure at the briefing, they do not ride and nobody makes a thing of it.

See is dune bashing safe for how we think about the same question for the 4x4 drive.

What's included

  • A private slot on a marked track, not shared with other groups
  • Helmet and goggles
  • A briefing before you ride, not shouted over an engine
  • A guide riding with the group

Not included

  • Open-dune riding, which we do not offer
  • Riding for under-16s, or anyone without a briefing they understood
  • Insurance beyond the operator's own cover

Questions we get asked

Why is it a marked track rather than open dunes?

Because open-dune quad riding is where the accidents happen. A marked track with a guide riding alongside is the version we are willing to sell, and if that is not what you want we would rather you booked elsewhere than had us pretend.

Is there a minimum age?

Sixteen to ride. Younger children can ride as a passenger with a guide on some machines — ask, because it depends on the vehicle.

Do we share the track with other groups?

No. Your slot is yours, which is the point of booking it through a private safari rather than paying at the camp.

Is it included in the safari price?

No. It is priced per person and added to your booking, and it is genuinely optional — most families skip it and do not regret it.

Should we add it?

If you have teenagers, probably. If your group is mostly adults who came for the desert, the twenty minutes is usually better spent at the sunset stop.
