Answer first: several cars, one booking
A group desert safari here is not a coach. It is several private 4x4s — one per six guests — moving as a single booking with one pickup window, one arrival, one lead guide and one payment.
That is the whole product. Everything else is the standard private evening safari.
Why booking separately goes wrong
Book three safaris as three separate orders and you get three pickup windows, three drivers who have never spoken to each other, and a camp that seats you in three different places. Families get split. Somebody waits an hour in a lobby.
A multi-vehicle booking exists specifically to prevent that: the vehicles are dispatched as a unit and the camp holds adjacent seating for the whole party.
Who this is for
Extended families travelling together, especially from Saudi and the wider Gulf, where the group is often three generations and splitting it across operators is not acceptable. Wedding parties. Company teams — though for those, see corporate desert safari.
The size where it changes
Up to about thirty guests, a convoy of private vehicles is the right answer. Above that, the coordination overhead starts to outweigh the benefit and hiring the camp is both simpler and usually better value.
Practical notes
- Tell us the group’s composition, not just the headcount. Six adults and six children under ten is a different vehicle plan to twelve adults.
- Dietary requirements go on the single booking, which is why one order beats several.
- If any part of the group needs a no-music vehicle or seating away from mixed groups, say so when you book and it is arranged for those vehicles specifically.

Questions we get asked
How many vehicles do we need?
One vehicle per six guests. Twelve people is two vehicles, twenty is four. Pick the vehicle count in the booking form and the whole order goes through as one transaction.
Will the cars stay together?
Yes. That is the difference between this and booking several safaris separately. One pickup window, one convoy, one arrival, and a lead guide responsible for the group rather than a driver responsible for a car.
Can we pay once for everything?
Yes. One booking, one payment, one confirmation listing every vehicle. You are not reconciling six receipts afterwards.
What if some of the group wants to leave earlier?
Tell the lead guide at camp. Vehicles can leave in shifts — the family with small children goes back at nine, everyone else stays.
Is there a discount for more vehicles?
Ask. Pricing is per vehicle and we would rather quote you honestly for the actual group than publish a tier you may not qualify for.
We are more than thirty people. What then?
At that size hiring the camp outright is usually better value and much simpler than a large convoy. See private camp hire.
